  • Sugar Pine Pineapple fruit planting demos by the Boynton Garden Club.
  • Meet representatives from the Florida Farm Bureau Federation, and Palm Beach County and Western Palm Beach County Farm Bureau
  • All you can eat hearty farm to table buffet infused with Sugar Pine pineapples by the Secret Garden Café with food items from the Urban Farm, Target Grocery Store and Kingston & Associates
  • Sugar Pine pineapple fruit smoothies created by The Java Juice Bar

Chefs will demonstration how to make their pineapple cuisine that will also be available to eat at the event, highlight nutritional value and a career as chef.

Culinary students from South Tech Culinary Academy will be volunteering and assisting the chefs.

 

Dessert

A specially designed Sugar Pine pineapple fruit-shaped cake created by Pastry Chef Lara Fisher of Cakes by Lara will be unveiled at the Children & Parents Day and served for dessert at the event.

Participation of local Artists

Pineapple-themed arts and crafts stations will offer interactive experiences and an opportunity to create art work with local artists and learn about a career as an artist.

Students from American Heritage School and American Heritage Schol National Honor Society of Boca/Delray are the official student volunteers for the arts and craft stations.

Target is the presenting sponsor of Children & Parents Day on Sunday, March 3rd. The purpose of this festive program is to provide a fun-filled day of family adventures with cooking classes, arts, crafts and history education activities for children. The event promotes healthy eating, supports motor skill and cognitive development in children and allows for creative expression and an appreciation for the arts

Kingston & Associates is sponsoring the Sugar Pine MD2 Gold pineapples. According to Kingston, their pineapples are high in Vitamin A and have four times more Vitamin C than other pineapple varieties. The pineapples are cholesterol free with low levels of sodium. Kingston is one of the world’s largest producers of pineapples which are grown on their own farmland. The farm-to-table buffet, cooking demos and kids cooking classes will feature the Kingston pineapples.

The 8th annual Children & Parents Day is an official Community Event Partner for the 500th anniversary of the State of Florida, Viva Florida. Pineapple fruit farming had a major historic impact during the agricultural development of the State of Florida.

Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History

The Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History (MLFH) is a non-profit 501c3 organization as designated by the IRS. MLFH was established in year 1999 in Palm Beach County, Florida. The Mission of MLFH is to offer educational programs, and history and retrospective anthropology exhibits showcasing lifestyle, cultures, people, places, fashion trends, clothes, architecture, furnishings, decorative arts, interior designs, locomotives and toys, and information about popular uses of artifacts by people/events of various periods of time. Since year 2005, MLFH has been presenting the annual Children & Parents Day event. In year 2004, MLFH premiered the Narrated Bus Tours of Historic Delray Beach, Florida. The tours have been hugely popular and rated the Most Unique Travel Gem by AAA Travel Home & Away Magazine. The Historic Tours have hosted nearly 8,000 passengers. The mission of the tours is to showcase the historic cultural lifestyle, people, and places. American Express was a sponsor of the Narrated Bus Tours of Historic Delray Beach in year 2007. In October 2011, MLFH premiered its newest program the Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Palm Beach County. The purpose of the Taste History Culinary Tours is to infuse food history, food culture, foodways and food tastings into facts about the historic districts and pioneer people of Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, and Lantana, Florida (Palm Beach County) along with highlighting art galleries, historic buildings and showcasing the contributions of early settlers. There are more than thirty culinary partners for this program that include restaurants, cafes, an urban farm, historic buildings and art galleries.
